Having attended Sandra Morris’ talk about deer parks reminds me that the History Society was taken on a conducted tour of Wigmore Rolls some years ago led by a party of Herefordshire archaeologists (all since relieved of their posts owing to “the cuts”). Among many other interesting finds they showed us the remalns of the boundary fence of the Wigmore deer park (photos in the Hist. Soc. archive). The nearest contemporary deer farm I know of is at Abberley where some years ago I was asked to photograph its residents and the surrounding wire mesh fence. Paddy Campbell (Hist. Soc. member).
